Integrating Community Engagement in Online Education.
As more LIS students complete most or all of their degree programs online, educators are challenged to design courses and programs that integrate meaningful field experience and community engagement activities, consistent with the goal of “empowering people to better their own life conditions, realities, and experiences.” How can online course and program design respond to this challenge? A panel of experienced online educators will provide examples of how they have worked to integrate field experience and community engagement in their course and program designs and encourage interaction with members of the audience.The session is open to anyone attending the ALISE conference, but is limited to the first 75 registrants.
